A Corporate Disease Called CC Mails

There is no doubt that email has been the best communication technology ever available, however as every technology this also comes with a serious side effects. One of the most used (abused) communication technology in the corporate world today is email.  As the communication technology is growing the user base is ever increasing, because of its cost effective speed and reference able nature. Slowly its even spreading to our personal space.. thanks to Google and yahoo.  

If you ever wonder why you are not able to complete work on time, here is the reason.A utility called CC mails is the culprit, originally designed to keep every one informed. Many leaders agree with me today 75 % any leader’s inbox is filled with CC mails which do not add any value to business and investing time on these mails is a waste of time. Actually these CC mails do more harm than the it’s utility it could be removed technically.
There are many reason why people use our name is CC while drafting a mail. If you dwell down bit you will know most of them are using our name in the cc just to prove their point of view with anticipation of support. There is no other productive purpose, there may be exception. Unfortunately people do get trapped in unnecessary mail chain and “Reply to all “business, which ultimately kills not only your valuable time but others as well. The world judiciously has lost meaning in this context and it has become a more of a corporate disease”

 As a lean practitioner I always advice leaders to avoid and discourage these CC and “Reply all” mails in the organization. I bet, you will save 25 % time which is nothing but money in the business context.
